Michigan State University will host commencement ceremonies for more than 10,000 graduates across baccalaureate, master’s, doctoral and professional programs at the Breslin Student Events Center and Wharton Center for Performing Arts between April 26 and May 10.
“I applaud our spring graduates and commend them on their achievements as they close one chapter in their lives and prepare to open a new one,” said MSU President Kevin M. Guskiewicz, Ph.D. “I urge graduates to stay curious and seek ways to serve and lead their communities, addressing the significant challenges of our time.”
This semester, the 6,849 bachelor’s degree candidates represent 80 of Michigan’s counties, 47 states and 51 countries. Among those, 135 student-athletes will be graduating over the weekend. This year’s graduating class ranges in age from 18 to 61 years old. Additionally, 780 graduating seniors are members of the Honors College.
This graduating class also boasts a record-breaking year of students earning the highest scholastic average one can achieve — a 4.0 GPA. A total of 272 undergraduate Spartans received the Board of Trustees Award for their academic excellence. The students were recognized during the April 12 board meeting and will receive recognition at their individual college ceremonies.
College-level ceremonies will take place between Friday, April 26 and Sunday, April 28 at either the Breslin Center or Wharton Center. Specific ceremony information, including professional programs, can be found on the MSU commencement website.
Convocation will take place on Friday, April 26 at 1 p.m. at the Breslin Center. Spring 2024 baccalaureate degree candidates are invited to participate in Spring Convocation and their college-level degree commencement ceremony.
Advanced degree ceremonies will take place at Breslin Center on Friday, April 26. At 9 a.m., Michigan State University Federal Credit Union President and Chief Executive Officer April Clobes will address master’s and educational specialist graduates. At 3 p.m., Bolaji Balogun, CEO of banking firm Chapel Hill Denham in Nigeria and co-founder and director of Econet Wireless Nigeria, will address doctoral candidates.
Commencement ceremonies will be livestreamed and available to view via MSU’s commencement ceremonies webpage. Social media users can follow the ceremonies on X, formerly known as Twitter, and other social media platforms using #SpartanGrad24.
Family, friends and fellow alums will be able to honor graduating students by submitting personalized messages and photos to be displayed on stage prior to the ceremonies. Supporters can submit their well wishes online now through graduation day. Each ceremony below at Breslin Center has a unique link for message submissions.
