2 students nominated for prestigious Mitchell Scholarship

Michigan State University has nominated two undergraduate students for the Mitchell Scholarship.

The scholarship supports students attending graduate school in Ireland. The results of this competition will be determined in the coming months.

MSU’s nominees for the Mitchell Scholarship are:

  • Brennan Haugen, an Honors College senior majoring in Human Biology in the College of Natural Science; and Psychology in the College of Social Science (Battle Creek Area Math and Science Center, and Lakeview High School in Battle Creek, Michigan).
  • Ethan Biederman, an Honors College senior majoring in International Relations, and Comparative Cultures and Politics in James Madison College; and Arabic in the College of Arts and Letters (Wylie E. Groves High School in Beverly Hills, Michigan).

The US-Ireland Alliance established the George J. Mitchell Scholarship Program, which allows up to 12 future American leaders to pursue a year of graduate study in Ireland and Northern Ireland. MSU has produced six Mitchell Scholars.

The Distinguished Student Awards Office (formerly National/International Fellowships and Scholarships Office), administered by the Honors College, helps undergraduate and graduate students pursue major national and international opportunities by providing information and direct support throughout the competitive application processes.
