Michigan State University senior Travis Boling is a zoology and animal science double major on the pre-vet track who plans to be an emergency and critical care veterinarian.
“I love animals, and I always knew I wanted to be a veterinarian,” says Boling, who is president of MSU’s Pre-Veterinary Medical Association as well as a research assistant studying canine lymphoma.
Boling also has a music performance background and one of his best memories as a Spartan is performing at Orchestra Hall in Detroit with the MSU choral ensembles.
“My music background gives me a unique perspective that makes me stand out,” says Boling. “While the veterinary field provides a different service than music, they are very similar in the fact that both professions connect with humans. Music has strengthened my compassion toward others, and I know that I can provide that attribute to the veterinary profession.”
