The Grammy Award winning, Charleston, SC-based quintet, “Ranky Tanky,” is known for its timeless music born from the Gullah culture of the southeastern Sea Islands of the United States. From playful game songs to Gullah traditions with a jazz sensibility, from spirituals to lullabies, the musical roots of Charleston are fertile ground from which these amazing artists have grown. Their debut album “ON IT” also soared to the No. 1 position on the Billboard, Amazon and iTunes Jazz charts, and was featured on NPR’s Fresh Air with Terry Gross and the Today show. The band consists of Quentin Baxter on drums and percussion; Kevin Hamilton on bass; Quiana Parler on vocals; Clay Ross on guitar and vocals; and Charlton Singleton on trumpet and vocals.
