Artist Refik Anadol’s “Infinity Room” translates real time power consumption data from T.B. Simon Power Plant into an immersive art experience by using machine learning algorithms. A black squirrel gets caught going for a snack run outside Wells Hall. While squirrels of many hues can be seen running around campus (and usually begging for treats), the black squirrel has special ties to MSU history. Researchers at the W.K. Kellogg Biological Station, a MSU research field station located between Kalamazoo and Battle Creek, released them on the campus in the 1950s through the 1970s at the request of MSU president John Hannah, who thought the black squirrels would be a unique addition to campus.
