The “green walls” created by the student organization Sustainable Spartans, with help from Infrastructure Planning and Facilities, sport pink blooms just in time to welcome students to campus. An art display in the STEM Teaching and Learning Facility really turns “STEM” into “STEAM.” The display, made by artist Refik Anadol, resides in the last remaining boiler from the building’s days as a power plant. The display, called an “Infinity Room,” translates real time power consumption data from T.B. Simon Power Plant into an immersive art experience by using machine learning algorithms. The patterns created are influenced by different consumers of the power supply, primarily lighting, HVAC and office equipment. Photo by Nick Schrader.

The calm before the win. Spartan Stadium enjoyed a restful Friday evening before Saturday’s big win when the Spartans defeated Youngstown State 42-14. The streak continues (fingers crossed) as they face the University of Miami in Florida this weekend. Photo by Nick Schrader.
Bert Skowronski, Infrastructure, Planning and Facilities plumber, gears up for the first football game of the season at Spartan Stadium.
