Mi Zhang of Michigan State University has been recognized with the Amazon AWS Machine Learning Research Award for his work on Automated Machine Learning. This is MSU’s first AWS Machine Learning Research Award.
Zhang is an assistant professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.
The Amazon AWS MLRA aims to assist university faculty to advance the frontiers of machine learning.
“The award will facilitate my collaboration with ML researchers at Amazon AWS AI to develop next-generation AutoML techniques,” he said. “Its goal is to automate the end-to-end process of applying machine learning to real-world problems.”
