Mork aids relief efforts in hometown after flooding

Chris Solari of the Detroit Free Press profiled graduating senior Nehemiah Mork on Sunday, May 31. Mork, a native of Midland, Michigan, saw utter devastation in his hometown after two dams failed and flooded the area. Along with his family, he's volunteering in the massive cleanup efforts in his hometown. Mork earned MSU's President's Award as the top graduating senior GPA in the athletic department and will continue his education at Georgia Tech this fall.

Nehemiah Mork's college swimming career ended abruptly, as did that of many athletes this winter. The Michigan State senior helped set a pair of school relay records at the Big Ten championships in late February before returning home to Midland a few weeks later amid the coronavirus shutdown.

He turned 22 on April 8, finished his degree in mechanical engineering May 3 with a 4.0 grade-point average and earned numerous academic honors that had to be celebrated from afar.
