Three people with ties to Michigan State University and the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology have been named to the 2019 inaugural class of Fellows of the American Society of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, or ASPET.
They are among 22 prominent scientists nationwide to be acknowledged as the society’s most distinguished members.
Richard Neubig, chair of the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, and Kenneth Moore, an associate professor emeritus in pharmacology, were each selected based on their efforts to advance the field of pharmacology through their scientific achievements, mentorship and service to ASPET.
MSU alumna Annette Fleckenstein, who was mentored by Moore, was also selected and graduated from the university in 1994. She currently is a professor and assistant dean at the University of Utah.
Neubig has served as chair of the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology since 2013. He was also on the ASPET council and served as president from 2013 to 2014.
Moore, who retired in 2001, served as chair of the department for 14 years. He also held numerous positions with ASPET including president and chair of the Board of Publications Trustees.
The 2019 Fellows will be honored at the ASPET Annual Meeting, held during the Experimental Biology Conference on April 4, 2020 in San Diego, California.
