Michigan State University has nominated five undergraduate students and three alumni for nationally competitive graduate school scholarships: the Churchill Scholarship, the Marshall Scholarship, the Mitchell Scholarship and the Rhodes Scholarship.
All of the scholarships support students attending graduate school in the United Kingdom or Ireland.
The MSU nominee for the Churchill Scholarship is:
Gabriel Moreau, an Honors College senior majoring in physics in the College of Natural Science and music in the College of Music
The MSU nominees for the Marshall Scholarship are:
Tylor Collier, a senior majoring in social relations and policy from James Madison College and arts and humanities in the Residential College in the Arts and Humanities
Anna Esenther, a 2019 MSU graduate and Honors College member with degrees in economics, psychology and history in the College of Social Science, a degree in education in the College of Education, and a degree in statistics in the College of Natural Science
Christina Pastoria, a 2017 MSU graduate and Honors College member with degrees in international relations in James Madison College and economics in the College of Social Science
Emily Steffke, an Honors College senior majoring in neuroscience in the College of Natural Science and English in the College of Arts and Letters
Gabriel Moreau has also been nominated for the Marshall Scholarship.
Pastoria has also been nominated for the Mitchell Scholarship along with:
Alexa Stechschulte, a 2019 MSU graduate and Honors College member with a degree in comparative cultures and politics in James Madison College
Esenther, Moreau, Stechschulte and Steffke have also been nominated for the Rhodes Scholarship along with:
Scott Piper, an Honors College senior majoring in biosystems engineering in the College of Engineering
Nahid Savan, an Honors College senior majoring in chemistry in the College of Natural Science
The National and International Fellowships and Scholarships, or NIFS Office, administered by the Honors College, helps interested undergraduate and graduate students pursue major national and international opportunities by providing information and direct support throughout the competitive application processes.
MSU has produced 18 Marshall Scholars, four Mitchell Scholars and 19 Rhodes Scholars.
The Marshall Commission provides support to approximately 40 of the most outstanding undergraduates in the country to study at any university in the United Kingdom.
The US-Ireland Alliance established the George Mitchell Scholarship Program, which allows up to 12 future American leaders to pursue a year of graduate study in Ireland and Northern Ireland.
The Rhodes Trust, the oldest of the major international competitive award foundations, provides 32 of the most outstanding undergraduates in the country an opportunity to study at the University of Oxford in England.
