State Room wins Award of Excellence for 13th year

Michigan State University’s State Room Restaurant, located inside the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center, is the recipient of Wine Spectator magazine’s “Best of Award of Excellence” for the 13th consecutive year.

The honor is Wine Spectator’s second-tier “best of” award. They give awards across three categories: Award of Excellence, Best of Award of Excellence and Grand Award. The State Room is one of only 12 venues in Michigan to receive this award level and the only site in the area to receive this honor.

The restaurant has received one of the three-tiered awards for 16 straight years, since first obtaining its liquor license in 2003

Award winners typically offer 350 or more selections, are destinations for serious wine lovers and show a deep commitment to wine, both in the cellar and through their service.

State Room manager Marianne Bacon and her team manage over 750 selections of wine by the bottle and 18 by the glass offerings.
