MSU students nominated for national Truman Scholarship

Four undergraduate students have been nominated by Michigan State University for the Harry S. Truman Scholarship.

MSU nominees are: 

  • Sumaya Malas, an Honors College junior majoring in comparative cultures and politics and international relations in James Madison College, as well as Arabic in the College of Arts & Letters.
  • Anna Cumming, an Honors College senior majoring in history and political science in the College of Social Science.
  • Kelly Eusebi, a junior majoring in international relations in James Madison College and economics in the College of Social Science.
  • Alexis Sargent, an Honors College junior majoring in social relations and policy in James Madison College.

The Truman Scholarship Foundation recognizes students with exceptional leadership potential who are committed to affecting change through public service by providing them with financial support for graduate study, leadership training and fellowship with other students.

MSU has produced 16 Truman Scholars.

“The Truman Scholarship Foundation looks for exceptional student leaders and Michigan State University’s nominees are outstanding,” said Cynthia Jackson-Elmoore, dean of the MSU Honors College.
