Teddy Bear Picnic offers free family fun

Families and children of all ages are welcome to the annual Teddy Bear Picnic, Sept. 16, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m., located outdoors across from Michigan State University's Clinical Center at 804 Service Road.

Children are encouraged to bring a favorite teddy bear or stuffed animal for a check-up at the Blue Cross Blue Shield Teddy Bear Hospital, a mock clinic staffed by physicians and students from MSU’s health colleges.

The annual event was created to help children overcome the fear of “going to the doctor” in a fun, safe environment while also encouraging wellness and healthy eating habits

Admission to the Teddy Bear Picnic is free. The event includes a Teddy Bear Hospital, helmet fittings, shooting baskets with MSU Women's Basketball Team, drills with MSU Women's Soccer Team, face painting, balloon animals, healthy snacks and more.

The 2017 Teddy Bear Picnic is sponsored by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, Michigan State University Federal Credit Union, Meijer, McLaren Greater Lansing, Compass Health, MSU College of Human Medicine and the Departments of Pediatrics and Radiology, and MSU College of Education’s Department of Kinesiology.
