Patrons of Michigan State University’s Abrams Planetarium will soon be able to take a journey to the dark side of the moon.
The planetarium will be presenting a show that features the 1970s classic Pink Floyd album, complete with psychedelic visuals and other mind-blowing effects.
“Pink Floyd-Dark Side of the Moon” will be presented at 10 p.m. this Friday and Saturday and Nov. 13 and 14. Admission is $4 for the general public, $2 for Abrams Planetarium members.
While there will be some astronomy-related images on the planetarium dome, much of the show will be visuals that match the theme of the songs.
“This is a show we produced in-house,” said Abrams Director Shannon Schmoll. “We utilize the various graphics capabilities as well as our LED light system.”
Last year Abrams installed a new star projector – the Digistar 5, which provides planetarium-goers with sharper, crisper images.
