The American Society of Employers has named Michigan State University’s Sharon Butler one of Michigan’s Human Resource Executives of the Year.
The award recognizes “special individuals who have dedicated their working lives and efforts to become outstanding human resource executives”. Recipients are nominated in a process overseen by ASE and then chosen by a selection committee to recognize meritorious work that distinguishes them in the field of Human Resource Management.
Butler, assistant vice president of human resources at MSU, has more than 35 years of experience in human resources. Her contributions to MSU include improvements to the Enterprise Business Systems and opening the HR Solutions Center, created to improve the way HR delivers services to the MSU community.
Qualifications for the ASE Executive of the Year award are also based on commitment to the HR profession, contributions to the community, impact on the lives of others and the success of his or her organization.
Other recipients of the 2015 award are Scott Pepin, Federal-Mogul Powertrain; Meghan Berg, Fortis Energy Services; and Ron Carr, United Way of Southeastern Michigan. The Michigan HR Executives of the Year for 2015 will receive awards at ASE’s twelfth Annual Summit. The ASE Annual Summit will be held Wednesday, Nov. 4 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Detroit Athletic Club.
