One Health networking event

Practitioners, academics, graduate students and administrators are invited to attend the One Health networking event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on July 28 at the Delia Koo International Center at MSU.

The One Health Initiative is an all-inclusive collaboration between medical practitioners in both human and animal health alongside other scientific and environmentally related disciplines. Numerous prominent physicians, veterinarians, researchers, and communications and social science scholars worldwide have endorsed the action-oriented effort.

The MSU Institute of International Health is MSU’s focal point for fostering global health and One Health collaborative partnerships around the world. MSU-IIH’s aim is to encourage international collaborations to address the complex nature of One Health through multidisciplinary academic, educational, and research approaches.

Given ongoing faculty interest, the event will host David Butler-Jones, immediate past Canadian Chief Public Health Officer, and Carol Rubin, the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention point person for One Health and an associate director for the National Center for Emerging Zoonotic and Infectious Disease . Their presentations will help guide the discussion with a summary of the One Health Intiative’s impact to date.

Further dialogue will include the role academic institutions and partnering organizations have and potentially will have in advancing One Health, the considerations for team organizations to further advocate and implement One Health nationally and internationally, and finally, how multidisciplinary, multi-sector groups might further collaborate with various proponents of One Health.

RSVP here before 5 p.m. on July 14.
