MSU student earns black belt

Recently, the IM Sports West building hosted a black belt testing, which has been a long- standing tradition at MSU for more than 50 years.

The promotion board consisted of 11 senior black belts. The testing process is filled with tradition, challenging both the mental and physical aspects of the martial art.

As friends, family and club members watched,Will Betts demonstrated his skill in all aspects of karate. After the testing process concluded, members adjourned to the Harrison Road House for discussion of test results. The board unanimously agreed to award Will Betts his First Degree Black Belt.

The MSU Karate Club was founded in 1962 and is one of the oldest martial arts
organizations in the Midwest and teaches the principals of traditional Karate to develop quality students who can then apply the mental, physical and spiritual aspects of martial arts to their own lives.
