MSU top producer of global citizens: In its mission to create global citizens by providing a culturally diverse campus and immersion experiences abroad, MSU leads the state in international student enrollment and study abroad participation, according to a new report placing MSU in the top 10 nationally for both. classroom2. Examining the effect of foundation-funded research on education: How does research funded by private foundations shape the debate on teacher quality in America? Using a $277,895, two-year grant from the New York-based William T. Grant Foundation, scholars from MSU and the University of Michigan will investigate that issue starting next year. More >>

celta students3. Creating a national model for language learning and assessment: Using a two-year, $800,000 grant from the Institute of International Education, MSU researchers will develop a program to gauge how practices used to measure foreign language proficiency affect language teaching and learning. Wharton Center4. Classical meets Jazz on Nov. 21: The MSU College of Music’s Symphony Orchestra, the university’s premier orchestral ensemble, conducted by Kevin Noe, will be sharing the Wharton Center stage at 8 p.m. on Nov. 21. Joining the group will be MSU’s top jazz ensemble, Jazz Orchestra I, directed by bassist Rodney Whitaker, along with jazz faculty members as guest soloists. More >>

Berlin Wall exhibit5. German Studies program commemorates fall of Berlin Wall: The German Studies program commemorated the 25th anniversary of the November 1989 fall of the Berlin Wall by constructing a segment of the Berlin Wall to display in Wells Hall throughout October and the beginning of November.
