MSU anatomy professor receives top award

Rebecca Pratt, associate professor of anatomy and director of the gross anatomy labs in the College of Osteopathic Medicine, has received the Basmajian Award from the American Association of Anatomists, a top recognition for faculty in the early stages of their careers.

She was selected based on documented excellence in teaching gross anatomy and outstanding accomplishments in biomedical research or scholarship in education.

She will be presented with the award during the association’s annual meeting this April in San Diego.

“‘Your rewards in life are determined by the problems you help solve for others’ – these words summarize my philosophy of teaching and learning,” said Pratt. “I enjoy helping students overcome the obstacle of a challenging concept and embrace my position as a guide for them.”

Pratt was also the recipient of the 2013 College of Osteopathic Medicine’s Golden Apple Outstanding Teaching Award.
