Mecosta County Breakfast on the Farm scheduled for August 16

MSU Extension will host Breakfast on the Farm from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Aug. 16 at the De Grins Oer Dairy Farm. The farm is located at 2386 Adams Rd. in Blanchard, Michigan.

This is a free event that is open to the public. It gives them a chance to have first-hand experience with modern day farming and agriculture. Attendees can eat a home-cooked breakfast featuring Michigan grown menu items.

After the breakfast is served, attendees are welcome to take a self-guided tour of the De Grins Oer Dairy Farm. During their visit, they will be welcomed by many local volunteers staffing educational exhibits along with 700 dairy cows and a small flock of sheep housed on the De Grins Oer Dairy Farm. Participants can see where cows are milked and housed, as well as the daily practices that go into running a dairy farm. Volunteers will be on hand to answer questions or to share their firsthand farming expertise.

Breakfast on the Farm offers people a chance to come face to face with local farm families and ask questions about food production–all in a fun and comfortable setting. Michigan farmers want their consumers to know that they care about their land and animals. They have an open door to consumers, allowing them to learn what it takes to get the food from the farm gate to their food plate.

All ages are welcome to attend. Please check the Breakfast on the Farm webpage for ticket locations.
