Michigan State University’s campus returns to life Sunday and Monday when new and returning students arrive in East Lansing for the start of the 2013-14 school year.
First-year students will begin moving in at 8 a.m. Sunday, while returning students move in Monday. Classes are set to begin Wednesday.
The incoming freshman class, although a bit smaller than a year ago, represents perhaps one of the most academically talented and diverse freshman cohorts ever to enter MSU, said admissions director James Cotter.
Although a final enrollment count will not be available until late September, university officials anticipate approximately 7,800 freshmen.
Joining the new student population at MSU in the fall will be more than 1,500 transfer students arriving from both two- and four-year institutions from across the state and around the world.
Following are some notable events occurring during Fall Welcome.
- Fill the Bus service project, Sunday through Thursday.
- Convocation, University Welcome and One Book, One Community presentation, 9 to 11 a.m. Monday, Breslin Center.
- Fall Welcome Spartan Spectacular, 4 to 10 p.m. Tuesday; Sparticipation will take place from 5 to 8 p.m.
