Staff Profiles: Angela Zell

For 21 years, Angela Zell has enjoyed her work at Michigan State University. Even after she receives her master’s degree from Michigan State University this spring, she said she hopes to stay with MSU for as long as she can.

Zell began as an employee in the medical billing department before joining the Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics – where she currently works –in 1996.

As the office supervisor, her daily responsibilities vary, but she says one of her main roles is providing administrative support to the department chairperson.

Zell said her favorite part of working at MSU is the people.

“We have a really good staff here and the faculty is wonderful,” she said. “We all enjoy coming to work, and that’s a really nice thing.”

Zell said another perk of working at MSU is her flexible schedule.

“It’s really difficult that I have four children,” she said. “Being able to be there for them as well as do my job has been wonderful over the years.”

She said she always knew MSU was a good work environment, because two of her sisters held positions at MSU before her. With all of the benefits and family working close by, her choice to work – and stay – at MSU was an easy one.
