Special statement: Stadium weather evacuation update

10 p.m. — The National Weather Service reported storms 20 miles from Spartan Stadium but a pop-up storm with cloud-to-cloud lightning within three miles of the stadium was identified by the MSU  operations center. MSU officials made the decision to evacute the stadium until the severe weather had passed.

Fans were directed to designated shelther locations outside the stadium. Gates reopened at 9:40 p.m. The game resumed at 10 p.m.
