Jackson National Life Insurance Co.’s expansion into downtown East Lansing is going to pay dividends for Michigan State University students.
Jackson announced June 18 plans to establish a new facility in the old Barnes and Noble building at the corner of Grand River and Charles Street which will provide capacity for full and part-time jobs. And when it opens for business in the fall, MSU students could be working there.
“The goal is to create a space where students can gain real-life work experience, share ideas and enhance creative thinking,” said Michael Wells, Jackson president and CEO. “We’re confident this project will not only benefit our business through students’ growth and learning, but also encourage an active dialogue with MSU and the East Lansing community.”
The facility will provide flexibility for part-time work. It will initially focus on hiring positions that best support Jackson operations. As the project grows, the hiring will include information technology, engineering and human resources work.

Earlier this year, Jackson launched a similar partnership with Michigan Technological University in Houghton. There, students work closely with Jackson employees, completing a variety of technology-related projects for the company.
