Michigan State ranks among the nation’s top 30 public universities and also boasts the best supply chain management program for undergraduate students, according to U.S. News & World Report.
The magazine’s 2014 edition of best colleges, which hits newsstands Sept. 24, ranks MSU No. 29 among public universities. The top public school is the University of California-Berkeley.
The “Best Colleges 2014” guidebook comes on the heels of Washington Monthly’s recent annual rankings in which MSU was ranked 20th among public universities.
According to U.S. News, MSU’s supply chain program for undergrads is No. 1 for the third consecutive year, ahead of the program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. MSU’s program is located in the Broad College of Business.
As a whole, the Broad College’s undergraduate programs ranked 27th in the nation.
MSU’s undergraduate engineering programs ranked No. 43.
U.S. News also recognized two “Programs to Look For” at MSU designed to foster student success: service learning and study abroad.
MSU has sent more students abroad than any other public university for eight years in a row, according to an Open Doors Report released in November.
Overall in the U.S. News national university rankings, MSU was No. 73. Princeton was No. 1, followed by Harvard and Yale.
U.S. News determines its rankings based on a number of variables including academic reputation, graduation and retention rates, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources and alumni giving.
