The Lansing Lugnuts and Michigan 4-H will be teaming up to host 4-H Science Day April 13 at Cooley Law School Stadium.
4-H Science Day with the Lugnuts is a partnership between the Lansing Lugnuts and Michigan 4-H to increase youth interest in science. Michigan 4-H is a Michigan State University Extension program.
For the second year in a row, youth and their families will have the chance to explore how science can be applied to the sport of baseball as well as participate in numerous other activities.
Groups purchasing 4-H tickets will be able to participate in a pitching demonstration by one of the Lugnuts pitchers, meet with the head groundskeeper to learn what it takes to keep a baseball field green, learn about event food safety and preparation and take advantage of the children bounce inflatables.
During the game, 13 science stations will be set up around the concourse of the stadium for anyone attending the game to visit.
4-H Science Day is a public event. Clubs and counties interested in attending should purchase all tickets at once for seats to be together. Tickets can be ordered online by selecting the 4-H icon at www.lansinglugnuts.com or by downloading the flyer on the Michigan 4-H event page and mailing it in, or by contacting Bill Adler at (517) 827-2486. Those attending will then have the option of having tickets delivered or picking them up at will-call. The cost is $10 a person and children under age three are free.
Gates open at noon for 4-H ticket holders and 12:50 p.m. for the general public, with the first pitch at 2:05 p.m. Cooley Law School Stadium is located at 505 E. Michigan Ave. in downtown Lansing.
