Former hockey coach recognized for service and achievement

Former MSU hockey coach Rick Comley will be awarded the Kenneth J. Shouldice Achievement Award by Lake Superior State University’s Alumni Association for professional achievement and community service Nov. 9.

Comley became head coach of MSU hockey in 2002 and retired in 2011. His team won the 2007 NCAA national championship.

Comley is one of only six NCAA division I hockey coaches to have won more than 700 games, and one of only three to have won a national championship at three separate schools.
