Celebratory luncheon for the Michigan Harvest Gathering

A celebratory luncheon for the Michigan Harvest Gathering will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 20 at the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center. The MHG is an effort to fight hunger in Michigan by collecting food and money and distributing food to underprivileged Michiganders.

The hunger relief effort was started by Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette and is organized by the Food Bank Council of Michigan. Schuette and the food bank’s executive director, Kareemah El-Amin, will be present at the luncheon.

The Michigan Harvest Gathering has raised $8.6 million dollars and more than 8.7 million pounds of food for Michigan food banks since its 1991 inception. This year, the goal of the MHG is to raise $500,000 and 350,000 pounds of food. Estimated results of this year’s campaign will be released at the Celebration Luncheon.

Tickets for the luncheon need to be purchased prior to the event and will not be available at the door. Tickets can be purchased here.
