The Michigan State University Alumni Association is seeking volunteers to help with the 2012 Homecoming parade. This year's parade will be held at 6 p.m. on Oct. 12.
Four shifts choices are available and are listed below.
- Set-up and staging: 3:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Location: East Lansing - Hannah Community Center on the corner of Abbot and Burcham Roads.
Volunteers will assist in getting the parade entries organized and started on time and will assist with high school band logistics.
- Parade marshals: 5 to 8 p.m.
Location: East Lansing and MSU campus (along parade route)
Volunteers will maintain parade flow and crowd control along parade route. Volunteers must be self-assured and able to manage disorderly situations.
- Police intersection volunteer: 5 to 8 p.m.
Location: Downtown East Lansing and MSU campus
Volunteers will assist East Lansing and MSU Police Departments with street closures during the parade.
- Parade staff special assignments: 6 to 8:30 p.m.
Location: MSU campus
Volunteers will assist with the end of the parade logistics.
Volunteers will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis. When registering, indicate your preferred first and second shift choices and your T-shirt size.
