Vickery named Demmer Legacy Fellow

Shawnee K. Vickery, professor of business operations and supply chain management, was recently appointed as the Demmer Legacy Fellow and will lead activities at the new John and Marnie Demmer Center for Business Transformation.

A recent endowed gift from the Demmer family established the center and provided support for this position. Vickery will serve as faculty director for strategic and operational leadership of the center and oversee the managing director, student teams, and research while leveraging opportunities to assist companies within the community.

The Demmer Center will be part of the Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation and provide education, outreach and research on business process transformation, with an emphasis on lean manufacturing and quality, and the innovations that result from using these processes in collaboration with customers. It will draw on the world-class research of Broad College faculty and talents of students to help transform Michigan companies.

Vickery’s outstanding and sustained track record of engagement with Michigan businesses and her excellent research record  made her an ideal candidate for this position. Her research productivity and national recognition will be a vital resource for the Demmer Center and the business community.

Vickery’s articles have been published in numerous journals, including Management Science, Journal of Operations Management, International Journal of Production Research, Journal of Supply Chain Management, and Journal of Product Innovation Management. She received her doctorate in business administration from the University of South Carolina and has received the Lewis Quality of Excellence Faculty Award for her work in programmatic development.
