The public is invited to the Kellogg Bird Sanctuary’s unveiling ceremony for the sanctuary’s educational sign project at noon Oct. 7th.
“Twelve signs, featuring original watercolor images created by Kalamazoo artist Amelia Hansen, have been added to the trail to help tell the Sanctuary’s story,” said Kara Haas, the sanctuary’s environmental education coordinator. “These signs will enhance visitor experience, teaching them about habitat, invasive species and conservation efforts.”
Also taking place that day is the 12th annual Share the Harvest event from 1 to 5 p.m., which features family activities during open houses at the Kellogg Bird Sanctuary, Kellogg Manor House, Kellogg Farm Dairy Center and LTER Field Lab. At the Bird Sanctuary learn more about birds in the Bird Olympic activities, enjoy cider and donuts, have your face painted and watch for the appearance of live birds of prey.
The Kellogg Bird Sanctuary is open to visitors year round. For more information, contact the Kellogg Bird Sanctuary at (269) 671-2510 or email birdsanctuary@kbs.msu.edu.
