Teddy Bear Hospital and Picnic makes doctor visits fun Oct. 6

EAST LANSING, Mich. — Children of all ages are invited to the MSU 2012 Teddy Bear Hospital and Picnic from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 6 in the 4-H Children’s Garden at Michigan State University.

Hosted by the MSU College of Human Medicine’s Department of Pediatrics and Human Development, the annual Teddy Bear Hospital and Picnic helps children overcome the fear of going to the doctor in a fun, safe environment. Children are encouraged to bring their teddy bears to have them treated at the Teddy Bear Hospital – a mock clinic with booths staffed by physicians, medical students and health care workers.

In addition to the hospital, the event includes a free Teddy Bear Picnic, face painting, games and raffles – and a special visit from the MSU women’s basketball team and Coach Suzy Merchant. Emcee for the event is Susi Elkins, WKAR-TV station manager. Tickets are available in advance for $5 at all MSU Federal Credit Union branches or $7 at the event. Children under 3 years old get in free.

For more information, please call 517-353-5042. The Teddy Bear Hospital and Picnic is sponsored by MSU Federal Credit Union, Sparrow Hospital, myNutratek and Michigan State University.
