Summer science camps at the Kellogg Bird Sanctuary

Kellogg Bird Sanctuary is offering a variety of summer camps for children this year. Beginning June 25, children can venture outside and learn about ecology, science, and the environment. A few remaining spaces are still available and space is limited.

New this year is a Leadership Camp for 7th and 8th graders. This year's theme is "Water Quality and Conservation," and it will be held June 25-29. Leadership campers are able to conduct experiments and utilize the expertise and instruments available to students and faculty at the Kellogg Biological Station. All this, along with swimming in Gull Lake, fishing, canoeing and other camp favorites. Leadership campers will also spend Thursday night at the Sanctuary.

Day camp sessions offered for 1st-6th graders this summer are: "Winged Wonders," July 9-13; "Animal Planet," July 16-20; and "Survival Science," July 23-27. Sessions run Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. with an early drop-off option of 8 a.m.

During these adventures, campers will participate in engaging, hands-on activities and explore the Kellogg Bird Sanctuary, Kellogg Biological Station and Kellogg Forest. Sanctuary staff and counselors, working in collaboration with Michigan State University faculty, staff and graduate students, will provide an unforgettable experience of nature and science for your child.

The bird sanctuary is located at 12685 E. C Ave., Augusta, Mich., one mile north of M-89 and just west of 40th street.
