This past spring and summer, Michigan State University IT Services re-examined the commercial learning management system options with the Learning Management System Futures Committee to find a replacement for ANGEL.
After much deliberation, including public demonstrations from Blackboard and Desire2Learn, MSU has selected D2L as the next centrally supported Learning Management System, and is negotiating a multi-year license agreement.
This decision was strongly influenced by the input of the Learning Management System Futures Committee comprised of representatives from academic colleges appointed by college deans and Libraries and IT Services, as well as input received from across campus.
D2L will first be available for instructors late in the Fall Semester 2012. At that time, training for D2L will also begin for instructors. ANGEL will be supported and run simultaneously with D2L through the Spring Semester 2015.
IT Services will actively be working with each college's staff to ease the transition for instructors. We are also interested in identifying and working with early adopters who want to convert their existing ANGEL content to prepare for Spring Semester 2013 courses.
If interested in being an early content conversion candidate, call (517) 355-2345 or (800) 500-1554 or e-mail reachout@msu.edu.
