EAST LANSING, Mich. – Ajit Srivastava, Michigan State University professor and chair of the Department of Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering, has received the James R. and Karen A. Gilley Academic Leadership Award from the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers.
He received the award at the 2012 ASABE Annual International Meeting, held in Dallas.
Srivastava was recognized for his academic leadership, for his contributions to teaching and research and service to the profession. He has provided positive academic leadership as department chair, assuming a servant leadership approach to his responsibilities.
A 39-year ASABE member, Srivastava has authored or coauthored more than 50 publications. He was the lead author of the "Engineering Principles of Agricultural Machines," a textbook published by ASABE that is in use by more than 30 universities in the U.S and abroad.
Srivastava has received Distinguished Alumni awards from Rutgers University and Ohio State University, and a Dean's Honor and College Merit certificate from the U.P. Agricultural University in India.
The award is being endowed by ASABE Fellow James R. Gilley and his wife, Karen, and their family.
The American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers is an international scientific and educational organization dedicated to the advancement of engineering applicable to agricultural, food, and biological systems.
