Maple Syrup Day to be held at Kellogg Forest March 17

Maple Syrup Day will be at the W.K. Kellogg Experimental Forest on March 17. Attendees are invited to celebrate the first agricultural crop to be harvested and the return of spring by exploring the art of maple syrup production.

Kellogg Forest and Kellogg Biological Station volunteers will host special activities from noon until 5 p.m. Visitors can enjoy a wagon ride to the sugar bush, view a tapping demonstration, visit Maple Manor and taste a fresh syrup sample. Children’s activities include face painting, creating tree cookie medallions and playing a traditional game.

Syrup will be on sale in pint ($10) and quart ($15) containers.

The admission fee is $1 per person. Children 2 years old and younger are admitted for free. For more information, call (269) 731-4597.

Kellogg Forest is located at 7060 N. 42nd St., north of Augusta, Mich.
