Invasive plant removal day in Beal Garden to take place April 28

Individuals are invited to learn about invasive plants and help remove them in the W.J. Beal Botanical Garden and Campus Arboretum April 28.

The event takes place from 8 a.m. to noon. Participants are asked to meet at the W.J. Beal Botanical Garden shed by the pond.

Beal Botanical Garden curator Frank Telewski, assistant curator Peter Carrington  and campus arborist Paul Swartz will provide an introductory talk about invasive plants on campus and how to identify and remove them.

Participants are asked to wear old, sturdy clothing, work gloves, sturdy shoes, safety goggles and sun block if necessary. They are also asked to bring a pruning saw and lopping shears or pruning shears. Eye protection and some tools will be available for those who do not have them.

The event is organized by the Office of Campus Planning and Administration, W.J. Beal Botanical Garden and Campus Arboretum and Landscape Services at the MSU Physical Plant.
