Counseling Center to offer group therapy for women

Beginning Sept. 13, the Michigan State University Counseling Center will offer a therapy group for women who have experienced sexual assault or sexual abuse. The program is titled "Hope and Healing."

This group will provide a safe space for women who have experienced unwanted sexual contact to process feelings and move forward in their healing.

Hope for Healing will be held every Thursday from 3 to 4:30 p.m. at the MSU Counseling Center, Student Services Building 556 E. Circle Drive, in Suite 207.

A phone interview or in-person screening is required to attend Hope for Healing. Contact Leah Elliott at (517)-355-6890 or leahe@cc.msu.edu for more information.

The Counseling Center will offer a second program, titled Soul Speak, which is scheduled to beigin Sept. 17.

Soul Speak is a drop-in support group for female survivors of sexual violence. The program will provide a safe space for students who want to receive and provide support around the healing process on a weekly or as-needed basis.

The group session will be held from 4 to 5 p.m. every Monday at the MSU Counseling Center, Student Services Building 556 E. Circle Drive, in Suite 207.
