College of Arts and Letters summer events

The College of Arts and Letters is hosting a variety of summer events for people of all ages.

Digital Storytelling in the MSU gardens

Digital storytelling will take place from 9 a.m to 3 p.m. July 23-27. Campers will explore the gardens at MSU and create digital stories by experimenting with different technologies as tools for making their creative ideas a reality. The camp is exclusively for middle school girls.

Greenrock High School Writers' Retreat

This is a four-day weekend retreat for students interested in reading and writing. Campers will stay in campus dormitories.

Language summer camps for kids

Week-long day camps from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with an available morning-only option, for children ages 7-12 in ESL, Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Shona, and Spanish.

Middle School Technology Camp

This four-day camp in July is hosted in one of MSU’s computer labs. Campers will work with writing-consultants and technology teachers to write their own story and create a digital story with pictures, music, and sound effects.

Native American Youth and Teens Film Institute

This workshop for Native American youth and teens teaches filmmaking basics like scriptwriting, camera work and sound and film editing. Space is limited.

Spartan Writers' Camp

The Red Cedar Writing Project offers writing camps for kids entering first through eighth grades. These camps will run from the middle of June through the last week in July and will take place in Bessey Hall.

Urban Literacies Institute for Transformative Teaching

This four-day program for teachers, educators, community leaders and students teaches the best practices in hip-hop and spoken word teaching. The program will take place June 18-21.
