Adekson appointed assistant dean for ISP

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State University has announced the appointment of Adedayo Oluwakayode Adekson as assistant dean for administration in International Studies and Programs. In this role, Adekson will manage international initiatives and collaborate with ISP's directors in strategic planning. He will also administer partnership agreements and oversee ISP's information technology operations.

Adekson previously served as a program officer with the Great Lakes Colleges Association/Global Liberal Arts Alliance. He will begin his new duties on Feb. 27.

"As we strive to increase alignment between international research, study abroad and exchange opportunities, Adedayo's experience across these areas will be invaluable," said Jeffrey Riedinger, dean of International Studies and Programs.

As a representative of the ISP Dean's Office, Adekson will also serve as ISP's coordinator for MSU Institutional Diversity: Excellence in Action and represent the unit on several university-level committees.

Adekson began his career in Washington, D.C. 17 years ago assisting with research and proposal development. He also has worked with UNESCO, United Nations-Mandated University for Peace and The World Bank. He earned his undergraduate degree in international studies and a master's degree in international development from American University's School of International Service, and both a master's degree and Ph.D. in political science from the University of Maryland College Park.
