Every day is different for Jennifer Shangraw, which keeps her on her toes.
Shangraw is a recording production technician for the College of Music, and she has been with Michigan State University for almost 12 years.
As a recording engineer, she is in charge of the recording of all concerts that the College of Music puts on. This means all recitals from MSU’s orchestras, bands, choirs, jazz ensembles, student recitals, faculty recitals, and other recording work that can be done upon request.
Recently Shangraw’s department has started to incorporate video recording of recitals and performances into their repertoire as well.
Recording is just one facet of her job though. Shangraw also handles any technical needs for the College of Music. She sits on the Technology Committee, and helps provide audio video services for the classrooms and helps with the purchasing of such materials.
“There is an incredible amount of talent here and it is incredible to work with these people on a daily basis,” said Shangraw. “I feel very lucky.”
