The Michigan State University Choral Union will hold auditions for its 2011-12 season at 6 p.m., Sept. 7. Auditions will take place on the MSU campus in Room 155 of the Communication Arts and Sciences Building. The first rehearsal will also be Sept. 7, so those auditioning should be prepared to stay for rehearsal that evening.
Auditionees should be prepared to vocalize and sing the first verse of "The Star Spangled Banner." Previous choral singing experience is desirable, but not required. No appointment is necessary but auditionees are asked to come at 6 p.m. for a general information session. Individual auditions will follow immediately.
The Choral Union is conducted by David Rayl, director of choral programs at MSU. The ensemble rehearses 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesdays, September through April.
Members pay a $45 per semester registration fee and pay for their own musical scores. The 2011-12 season will include a performance of Mozart's Coronation Mass with the Lansing Symphony Orchestra; the MSU College of Music's Home for the Holidays concert; the Faure Requiem; and the Beethoven Ninth Symphony with the MSU Symphony Orchestra.
