Eight 4.0 students receive Board of Trustees Awards

EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Eight Michigan State University students have earned coveted Board of Trustees awards, and were honored for their academic achievements at the Dec. 9 board meeting.

Board of Trustees awards are granted at each commencement to graduating seniors having the highest cumulative grade point averages at the close of the semester prior to graduation.

The recipients for December commencement are:

  • Xiao Cao of Chengdu, China. She is the daughter of Xiaoming Cao and Xiaolan Tang. Cao is an accounting major in the Eli Broad College of Business, where she has a 4.0 GPA. She is a graduate of Chengdu Foreign Languages School, Chengdu, China.
  • Anthony Dostal of Livonia. He is the son of Carmen Dostal and the late Thomas Dostal. An advertising major in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences, he has a 4.0 GPA. Dostal graduated from Adlai E. Stevenson High School, Livonia.
  • Sean Dryer of Arlington, Va. He is the son of Matthew Dryer of Buffalo, N.Y., and Deborah Running of Bay City. A member of the Honors College, Dryer has a 4.0 GPA. He is a zoology major in the College of Natural Science. Dryer graduated from Bay Arenac ISD Career Center, Bay City.
  • Alisha Finkbeiner of Saline. The daughter of Dennis and Lynn Finkbeiner, she is a nursing major. Finkbeiner, who graduated from Saline High School, has a 4.0 GPA.
  • Dana Flowerday of Milford. She is the daughter of Randall and Karen Flowerday. A communicative sciences and disorders major in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences, Flowerday is a member of the Honors College with a 4.0 GPA. She graduated from Milford High School.
  • Claire Glenn of Inver Grove Heights, Minn. The daughter of Pam Glenn of Inver Grove Heights, Minn., and Dan Glenn of Inver Grove Heights, Minn., she is double majoring in social relations and policy in James Madison College and music performance in the College of Music. Glenn is a member of the Honors College and has a 4.0 GPA. She graduated from Simley High School, Inver Grove Heights, Minn.
  • Elizabeth Huber of Dimondale. She is the daughter of Robert and Linda Huber. A packaging major in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Huber has a 4.0 GPA. She graduated from Holt High School.
  • Alexander Tollis of Novi. The son of Daniel and Kathleen Tollis, he is a mechanical engineering major in the College of Engineering, where he holds a 4.0 GPA. Tollis graduated from Novi High School.
