CATA summer bus service changes

Capital Area Transportation Authority's Spartan Service — the additional bus service in effect during Michigan State University's fall and spring semesters — concludes for the summer beginning Sunday evening, May 8.  As a result, all MSU campus service provided on Routes 30-36, 39, Lot Link and the Night Owl ends for the break.  Additionally, reduced service levels go into effect on Routes 1, 25 and 26 through Sunday, August 28.

The summer changes/reductions in bus service are as follows:

Route #1 Downtown Lansing/Meridian Mall: Friday or Saturday Late Night service will not operate after 11:15 p.m.  The last bus departs Meridian Mall at 10:55 p.m. en route to the CATA Transportation Center.  CATA’s Entertainment Express trolley service will continue on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights during the summer.  The Express takes customers to destinations along the Grand River/Michigan Ave. corridor between downtown Lansing and downtown East Lansing from 7:30 p.m. to 2:30 a.m.

Route 1 will run every 15 minutes (rather than every 10 minutes) weekdays between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m.  On Saturdays, between 11:30 a.m. and 5:35 p.m., buses will run every 15 minutes.

Routes #20 - 24: There will be no change in service on Routes 20-24.  However, during the summer, all five routes will travel to the MSU-CATA Transportation Center across from MSU’s Shaw Hall, while continuing to serve the Shaw and Farm Boarding Area at the corner of Shaw and Farm Lanes.  Routes 24 and 25 will continue to serve the Wharton Center stop.

Route #25 North Harrison: Weekday buses will operate every 40 minutes during the day and early evening rather than every 20 minutes.

Route #26 Abbot/Chandler
: Weekday buses will operate every 40 minutes rather than every 6 to 15 minutes.  Service will conclude at 7:15 p.m. at the MSU-CATA Transportation Center/Ramp 1.  There will be no Thursday, Friday or Saturday late night service to downtown East Lansing. Saturday service will end at 7:15 p.m. at the MSU-CATA Transportation Center/Ramp 1.

MSU Routes #30-36, 39, Lot Link and Night Owl
: These routes do not operate on campus during the summer.

Spartan Service resumes on Monday, August 29 with service returning to MSU's campus and added service on Routes 1, 25, 26 and the Entertainment Express. MSU service includes Routes 30-36, 39, Lot Link and Night Owl.
