EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Community members can meet Abdulrahman and Kathy Zeitoun of this year’s One Book, One Community selection, “Zeitoun,” by attending a discussion at 7 p.m. Sept. 19 at the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center.
“Five Years Later: An Evening with Abdulrahman and Kathy Zeitoun,” will discuss Abdulrahman and Kathy’s first-hand account of the story shared in the book “Zeitoun,” by Dave Eggers.
The event is one of many events held this month centered on “Zeitoun.” Admission is free and attendees will be seated on a first-come, first-served basis.
“Zeitoun” tells the true story of one man’s struggle to survive in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina amidst the chaos that overtook New Orleans.
The annual One Book, One Community program, sponsored by Michigan State University and the city of East Lansing, encourages the community to read the same book and discuss in a variety of settings. The book is an assigned reading for all incoming MSU freshmen.
Eggers spoke to the community at East Lansing High School and to MSU students at the MSU Academic Welcome in August.
