Staff profiles: S. Faye Watson

“Pretty much I could wear a different hat at any time during any given day,” said S. Faye Watson, an administrative assistant in the Department of Animal Science.

And she’s not talking about the African masks that decorate her office walls.

Watson, who has worked for MSU for 25 years come October, has a list of job responsibilities including webmaster, building manager of Anthony Hall and emergency team leader.

She coordinates travel accommodations for department faculty members and visiting speakers. She also responds to any kind of mishap in the building, including fires and chemical spills in the labs.

When there’s a fire in the Engineering Building connected to Anthony Hall, Watson makes sure the doors are watched so no one enters Engineering when it’s being evacuated.

“There’s always a monkey wrench thrown into something, so I like problem-solving,” Watson said. “I don’t try to let it stump me. There is an answer. So I like the diversity of my job.”
