Programming at MSU Child Development Laboratories

Children 18 months through five years of age by Sept. 1 are eligible to be placed in age-specific classrooms that maximize the promotion of the child's development at Michigan State University Child Development Laboratories.

The Head Teachers utilize hands-on learning experiences and opportunities that encourage growth across all areas of development. Adult child ratios are maintained at approximately 4:1 and 9:1. This program is offered in both East Lansing and Haslett locations (East Lansing provides a full-day preschool and toddler option).

The center also offers a Family Infant/Toddler Learning program that allows parents and children (three months through three years) to share experiences in a small group setting. The goal of the program is to create a mutually joyous parent-child relationship through play activities that enhance children’s skills in movement, language and social interaction.

The CDL is a partner with the family in the education and socialization of children during their early years. It offers many opportunities for family involvement in a child's educational experience. Students, faculty members, and families all benefit from these shared activities, learning from one another and working together for the well-being of the children.

Families can enroll by calling the MSU Child Development Laboratories Haslett location at (517) 339-6045.
