Grandparents University returns to MSU

EAST LANSING, Mich. — Launched four years ago, Michigan State University's Grandparents University continues to be a popular summer attraction for Spartan alumni and their grandchildren, who will once again return to campus June 29-July 1 for the college experience.

The program, which started with just more than 200 participants in 2006, will welcome nearly 1,000 grandparents and young people, 8-12. Registrants come from 33 states and two countries.

During the three-day educational experience participants live in a dorm, attend classes across campus and sample the many highlights of MSU. Grandparents and their grandchildren attend programs together, customizing their experience by selecting classes that fit their family interests. Throughout the program, they share hands-on learning activities led by world-class MSU faculty and staff members and create lasting memories.

Grandparents University is organized and supported by the alumni relations officers of the colleges of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Arts and Letters, Communication Arts and Sciences, Education, Engineering, Music, Natural Science, Osteopathic Medicine, Social Science and Veterinary Medicine; the Eli Broad College of Business; The Graduate School; Honors College; International Studies and Programs; James Madison College; Lyman Briggs College; the School of Packaging Alumni Association; the Residential College in the Arts and Humanities; MSU Extension 4-H Youth Development; and the MSU Alumni Association.

Descriptions of classes being offered as part of Grandparents University are available at www.grandparents.msu.edu.
