EAST LANSING, Mich. -- From studying skills to healthy habits to academic rigor, Michigan State University will host the Foundations of College Undergraduate Success Conference Oct. 1 to promote an engaging college experience.
FOCUS is free and will run from 1 to 6 p.m. at the MSU Union. Students will attend workshops on a variety of topics and have the opportunity to interact with faculty and staff. Workshops will focus on MSU's academic culture, networking, juggling academic and personal commitments and financial responsibility.
Tom Rios, assistant chancellor for student affairs at the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater will serve as keynote speaker. Eric Thomas, from OSS, will also speak.
FOCUS is sponsored by MSU's Office of Cultural and Academic Transitions, Office of Supportive Services, Undergraduate University Division, College of Agriculture and Natural Resources and the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs and Services.
