Big Ten Blood Drive Challenge scheduled for Saturday

EAST LANSING, Mich. — The MSU College of Human Medicine will sponsor the Big Ten Blood Drive Challenge 2010 at the Life Science Building, from 10 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. Feb. 13 in Room B105.

The College of Human Medicine also will sell T-shirts to raise funds for Haiti relief. Monetary donations will also be accepted for the Haiti Relief and Development Fund, sponsored by the American Red Cross.

"We thought that this would be a great way for us to contribute to the Haiti relief efforts even though we cannot physically be there in Haiti," said student organizer Neela Rao.

"We also wanted to remind the community that each donated pint of blood can save up to three lives." Rao said. "You do not have to be a doctor to save a life and anyone can contribute to this effort."

To schedule an appointment, visit RedCrossBlood.org, sponsor code MSUCHM. Walk-ins are also welcome. Presenting donors will receive a Big Ten Challenge T-shirt while supplies last.
